The Life and Times of Riley Strehlow, as told by Riley Strehlow
Too many people have web pages, and I felt bad because I'm supposed to be a nerd and I didn't. This will be a work in progress for the Winter & Spring of 2009, but I've finally taken the first step and claimed my own personal piece of Internet Real-Estate outside of the MyFace/SpaceBook/FaceSpace/MyBook social mega-conglomerate.
CURRENT IDEAS: *Autobiography: What's my story? I'll try to tackle this from both historic and anthropological angles, while throwing in a few personal insights, but I'll try to keep it as objective, pertinent and "blog-free" as possible. Should probably make for a mildly interesting read at best. It's mostly just to help people understand why I am the way I am, which, if someone doesn't already know me personally, could very well help them to make some sense out of the rest of this site. Hopefully it doesn't get me psych profiled. Now I'm paranoid to tell you about myself...great.
*Pictures: Probably not the best idea, especially given the nature of the majority of photos in which I've been depicted while I've been in college over the past 5 years...but hey, the (very few) images that depict me not doing anything illegal, blatantly immoral or otherwise self-incriminating will have a chance of being posted and explained or captioned. High quality images from kayak/camping/fishing trips and other major fun stuff like that will be added. I'm not thinking giant albums here, but more so high-res, meaningful pictures that are actually worth the 1000 words they've been innately allocated. They will likely be few and far-between, maybe one every month or two. The 1000 word caption remains strictly optional. *Writings: I'm not quite exactly sure what this will entail, but I'm probably going to toss on some occasional writings, mostly because I like writing and want to get better at it. Depending on how good the story seems and the level of flak I'd be likely to get from family members come Christmas provided any of my dear kin accidentally stumble upon this page, I'll be publishing a few thoughts on occasion. I'd say we're looking at maybe a few journal entries, and no poetry beyond a witty limerick from time-to-time. *Computer Tips: Ahh yes, what I'm known for. I own and operate Mac, Linux and Windows systems, and am a network engineer. Since I'm always poking around trying figuring things out, if I make a big discovery or find a great new invention/app/unconventional use for Gorilla Tape, I'll publish a description of what it does, why it's cool and how to use it. Pictures are a bonus, for both reference and proof that I actually did it. I may even publish these in official "Whitepaper" format from time to time, depending on how up-to-par I'm feeling with my Technical Writing skills. Critiques are welcome, but keep it constructive. --Any other ideas, I'll be happy to consider them. If you know me, you know my email address. If you don't, think hard and you'll likely figure it out! | Enjoy! Riley's Computer Tips (Dork Zone)
